FAQ's

 

Is it less expensive to build a custom house or buy a new house?

There are so many variables involved (such as the cost of the land, size of house, etc.) that is difficult to say one way versus the other but overall the costs usually are within the same range.

How long does it take from start to finish for a custom house?

Obviously the larger the home the longer the process but generally from the start of design to the completion of the home is generally ten to twelve months. This is made up of three phases design (2-3 months), permitting (2 months) and construction (6-8 months).

I own my house now– Can you build on my lot?

Yes, we frequently build on homeowners existing lots.

Do you provide a warranty?

Yes, our all inclusive warranty incorporates the National Association of Home Builders residential performance guidelines which provides a high level of standards throughout all aspects of construction.

Can you help me find a lot or a tear down house?

Yes, we are approached continuously by homeowners looking to sell their homes and lots for a variety of reasons. Most of our land/lot purchases are "off-market" transactions.

How does financing work?

Our unique New Home Financing Program allows you to secure your lot and Tradition Homes services with only a deposit upfront. We then work together to design and build your home with no cash outlays from you until the home is complete. It's a simple 4-step process, explained here in our New Home Financing Program flyer.  

What does your pricing include?

Our prices include the entire cost of design, permitting, and construction. This covers all demolition fees for the existing structure, design and engineering fees, site work, and construction of the house. The homeowner will be responsible for insurance, utilities, and real estate taxes.

How much will it cost to build my house?

It really depends on the size and finishes of the home. Please contact us for our Design Build Pricing Schedule.

Do you have any homes available to walk through?

Yes we usually have open houses twice per month. However you may contact us directly to schedule a private tour of one of our homes.

Who builds the houses you design?

Tradition Homes is a licensed Class A Building Contractor. We build everything we design, which allows projects to move seamlessly from design to construction, and eliminates potential finger pointing between a separate architect and contractor.

When will I know what my custom house will cost?

We know this is one of the biggest expenses you will have in your lifetime. We try and provide as much guidance up front so you can plan properly. We therefore provide pricing at three different times prior to moving forward with construction. They include:


Before Design- we will provide our Design Build Pricing Schedule showing the cost range for different size homes we have completed.


During Schematic Design- we will provide more detailed cost estimate with each iteration of the design process, based on your homes specific layout and details.


At Schematic Design Conclusion- we provide your total cost to complete your house down to the penny. You can have peace of mind knowing your total cost (no hidden fees) before construction even begins.

What will I need to do before moving into my new home?

Your house will be ready to move into when Tradition Homes is finished building. The only thing you will be required to do is to arrange for telephone, internet, and television service. All other utilities will be connected.
