“We wouldn’t design or build anything I personally wouldn’t be proud to live in myself.”
- Stephen DeFalco, Co-Founder, Tradition Homes
Our Story Our TeamOur Community
| After years in commercial development, architecture and construction, brothers George and Steve DeFalco reacted to seeing too many thoughtless designs and oversized houses that were not hitting the mark with homeowners or the community. Tradition Homes combines business talents with a passion for creating beautiful houses in the suburbs of Arlington, McLean and Bethesda. “Residents complained that their charming, historic neighborhoods were overrun by cookie-cutter homes,” says Steve DeFalco, “Builders seemed to be more concerned with maximizing square footage—without rhyme or reason—than in tasteful design or sensible construction". Tradition Homes focuses its designs on the actual needs of its homeowners, honoring neighborhood architectural integrity at the same time. To help clients build homes created especially for them, the company employs a team of award-winning architects as well as experienced project managers, quality assurance officers, kitchen and bath designers, engineers and craftsmen. Custom home clients get exactly what they want to meet their needs and lifestyles, plus a little whimsy if they choose. Secret doors can be found in libraries and children’s rooms. Future needs, including aging in place, are planned for as well. Stacked closets can house elevators added later, and large powder rooms can be converted to full bathrooms. For those that don’t want to build a house but still crave the new home feel, the DeFalco’s have a separate company, Tradition Renovations, to handle remodeling projects with the same care and many of the same resources as Tradition Homes. No matter what the requirements, Tradition Homes is committed to providing homes with craftsmanship, energy efficiency and curb appeal that have lasting beauty and value.
